I teach 2nd grade in a very low-income neighborhood in California with 100% of my students receiving free or reduced meals and 90% are English language learners. It is a very diverse population with Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Indian, and African American students. Many of the students are considered high-risk due to the conditions in which they live (gangs, violence, and drugs)
