My students come from many different socio-economic backgrounds. Many are being raised by grandparents who work 2 jobs or are disabled. Others are a part of single parent homes without one parent being involved. Some are in foster care or group homes. We are a magnet school developed out of the federal law to break racial segregation. We have come a long way in providing quality education to underprivileged neighborhood students and students from all over our city. We are also an International Baccalaureate World School. This great honor allows us to teach and motivate our students to be their best and to hopefully break the poverty cycle in their families. With that being said about 75% of our student population is on free and reduced lunch. We do not receive extra funds so that we can draw students from outside of our neighborhood.
