Our K-8 students will include remote and live instruction classes. In other years, students were able to participate in after school coding clubs. We use Scratch, a program developed at MIT, to introduce students to coding, problem-solving, and logical thinking. Scratch helps students to develop technical knowledge and skills in hands-on and engaging ways. Scratch and Scratch Jr. cards provide specific, leveled skill activities disguised as fun games or challenges.
Problem-solving and technical skills will prepare my students for the future and increase their engagement academically. With these items, I know that my students will be fully equipped to learn about coding and computing while having fun.
With multiple Scratch Card sets and virtual Scratch materials from Teachers Pay Teachers, face-to-face students can work in cooperative groups and virtual students can borrow decks to work independently. The materials will benefit students of all ages and abilities for several years.
