I teach kindergarten in an inner city school in PA. Many of my students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Most of my students have never left the city and therefore lack background knowledge about things we may take for granted. My students look forward to sitting on the floor during our read aloud times after recess to relax and learn more about the world around them.
