We have twenty students in an ESL hybrid fourth-grade classroom in an urban setting. The vast majority of these students have difficulty reading on grade level and require vocabulary and reading comprehension support. However, they are very motivated and are eager to learn when they can connect to the content. They attend an inner-city public K-8 school that falls under Title I classification. Approximately 60 percent of the school's population consists of English language learners.
