My students attend a public school in a small rural town in California. Many of their parents work in agriculture. It is summer vacation and I don't have a class list for next year yet. Thus the demographics will be based on last year's class. Of my approximately 30 students next year, I can anticipate that a third will be English language learners with Spanish as their primary language. Most of them will qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Many of them have few books at home. However, they tend to be very enthusiastic learners and their parents are supportive if not active in their children's education.
