I am in desperate need of a classroom rug that provides students with the space they need to benefit from whole group lessons on health and nutrition. In order for my students to get the most from group instruction and collaborate with partners, it is imperative that my students are able to have visual access of the teacher and the interpreter as well as classmates to participate in classroom discussions. Furthermore, students need appropriate body space to communicate effectively with others. In an effort to support science standards, I would like to use this rug as a gathering place to discuss health and nutrition. During our school year, students are asked to participate in group lesson, hands-on activities, and discussions regarding personal health and drug prevention. These are aligned with standards for students in Kindergarten through second grade. I believe a classroom rug would provide my students with the appropriate seating space this requires.
