I will be using the books for my ELL blended biology class and my AP environmental classes. They are incredibly resilient students who can speak multiple languages and have seen more of the world than most adults. Sometimes it is difficult for them to contextualize biological concepts without the setting to do so, but this opportunity will be hands on and tangible. The book has excellent pictures and stories to bring the dam removal project (biggest in the world!) to life.
More than 60% of our student population qualify for free and reduced lunch and our district often doesn't have the money for new books of high interest.
