We are a Title 1 school in Humble, Texas. The students are very transient and are usually being raised by single parents or grandparents. They are eager to learn, but they come to school with the burden of problems that keep them from just being kids. Our school is about 60% Hispanic, 30% African American, and 10% other. We have very little parent support so the teachers have to create a safe, secure, and structured environment that is completely different from their home lives. They are used to the bare minimum at home, so we try to give them the world at school.
