My students are "my" children. No, not biological, but they become who I am. I create memories and bonds with them that hopefully last forever. I develop relationships with them. Many have contacted me long after they have moved on, just to touch base. I have taught in the city of Philadelphia for nineteen years. My students come from different walks of life. Don't they all? They are like every other child you know. Thirsty for knowledge, comfort, love and technology. Different abilities and backgrounds.
My school is a wonderful school with a superior staff and supportive administration. I teach in a Demonstration school. This allows teachers from other schools and districts to come into our classroom and observe best practices with the hope that they will take them back to their class and implement. We are a school that has been hit hard with budget cuts. We are working together as a staff to establish funding for classroom necessities.
