My students live in the inner city and come from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Despite all of the obstacles that they face, they are resilient and come to school every day excited to be in school. Many of my students have limited experiences. I am always surprised to learn when a student shares with me that they have never been to a California Mission, ridden on a bus, or simply had apple pie with whip cream.
