My students are from countries all over the world. Some speak Arabic, some Turkish, a few Creole and many speak Spanish. English is a second language for around 30%.
In my classroom we acknowledge our diversity and the role it plays in our lives and my students have gained an awareness and respect for the cultural differences among their peers.
Many of my students are reluctant readers and I find that aural and hands-on learning opportunities make a huge difference in the engagement of the students in my classroom.
