My students come mostly from low socioeconomic backgrounds where technology is not readily available. Students may have smartphones but beyond this do not interact on a daily basis with constant information and do not connect with academic material through technology. Students also do not have a strong grasp of geography or how they fit in and relate to the global community. Luckily, our school places an emphasis on becoming productive citizens in what is the global community but need a further push to become fully cognizant of their place in the world, Twenty First Century Learning, and how to integrate geography and technology into their future careers and lives.
