By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help increase the academic achievement of my students.
Many of the items requested are fundamentals. We need composition notebooks for science, a subject often neglected in Baltimore City for kids in grades 4 and below. We also need clipboards as a lot of learning in elementary classrooms take place on the carpet, and clipboards will allow students to take notes with convenience. In my experience of teaching, I find that students personally love working with clipboards simply because they feel "more official." Magnetic writing boards will help my students in phonics, writing, and essentially reading. The use of white boards will be a daily activity; it's important that each student has access to one.
The AV Utility Cart will give technology access to my class whether it is via PowerPoint, YouTube, Microsoft Word, or even my favorite, a projector, so that students can see a model of something like how to take notes, for example, in their composition notebooks.
