I want to instill a love of reading and all things literacy in my Kindergartners and keep them engaged in their learning. This will be my fourth year teaching Kindergarten. Over the past three years, I have noticed that more and more of my students are coming in with a lack of exposure to books.
This fall I will have a class of at least 25 kindergarten students who are eager to learn and explore through reading. The school that I work at is a Title 1 school with 100% of the population receiving free breakfast and lunch each day. They will enter Kindergarten in September with many different interests, backgrounds, cultures, and reading levels. Students love reading and making new discoveries that they can share with their peers.
I would like to provide my students unique opportunities to experience books at many different levels and interests they may have. My students need six individual CD players, 6 headphones for our listening center, and books with CDs.
