Most of our students come from Refugee families or countries that suffer from oppression. They are bright students. Many of them come to third grade without being able to speak English. Or if they can speak conversational, they struggle with reading and writing, especially academic language. Although many of them have tragic back stories, they balls of sunshine in the classroom. They remain positive and love coming to school.
