My students are survivors! They struggle daily to overcome their violent and impoverished circumstances while battling their learning disabilities. The obstacles they face are considerable, but they don't compare to my students' resilience. They live in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Chicago, yet their joy and desire to learn is prevalent in everything they do. Their strength and courage never ceases to amaze me and is an inspiration. I know my students will triumph over their disadvantages as long as they continue to receive the help and support they so desperately need.

About my class
