I am a Middle School science teacher in a Philadelphia public school. I teach grades 6-8, and I am therefore able to see my students grow over three years! We do not rely on a textbook in my classroom, and students work daily in their Science Notebooks. We use a variety of resources, most of which are free, which minimizes the financial burden that comes with a textbook series. Students show what they have learned in various ways, and in this way I am able to reach my diverse population of learners. Standards are bundled to bring more meaning to science topics, and students are given more time to explore ideas. I strive to engage my students in topics and projects that are relevant to their lives, their local communities, and the health of our planet. Growing scientifically literate students who love and respect their planet is my passion, and I strive to inspire my students to explore STEM careers!
