My students are from different ethnicities and races but they share in common low socioeconomic backgrounds, lack of basic needs and wants. My school provides our students with things such as, hot meals (free breakfast and lunch for every student), afterschool care, and tutorials. Many of our students have parents that have limited educational backgrounds and resources. Parents' priorities become more based on immediate survival instead of future family goals. We, as the one entity they can turn to, must provide as best as possible some of those needs and wants. Especially the educational goals that enable them to have more and varied opportunities.
