This project will allow me to create fun and engaging materials that students will be able to interact with in the classroom. It also provides me with organizational tools that will help me create a welcoming classroom environment.
I am investing into Cricut materials to bring a lot of color in creating posters and visual supports for my students. I think the visual connection is an important aspect of a welcoming and enriching classroom environment. I have a lot of ELL (English Language Learners) in my classes, so creating visual supports will really help them connect to ELA standards and skills. Being able to connect to text in a visual way (English 6--RL6.1, RL6.2, RL6.3) really helps students develop more meaning and understanding from the text that they are interacting with.
One learning goal that I have for all students is that they will be able to interact with literature by creating something that is meaningful to them that they have connected with when reading a text. They can create a body biography, a poster, or any other kind of visual representation. Having a Cricut for students to use will also them to be far more creative in their projects, and it allows those who are unsure of their artistic and creative abilities to be able to create and present a project they will be proud of.
