We, as librarians and educators, know that reading develops empathy. And in what seems to be a world growing in hate, it is our responsibility as teachers to provide our students with the opportunities to be compassionate citizens.
We believe that one way to do that is through shared reading experiences. It is our hope these books can help foster that growth in our students.
Our project goal is to implement a book club to meet once a week, where we will read, think, and discuss the literature we choose to read, while also sharing a meal together.
