I am a Kindergarten teacher in Bakersfield California. My school is in a lower income community where 95% of the students are served free or reduced lunch. This is the first year I will teach a full class of transitional kindergarten (TK) students. With a background in early childhood education I am excited to be teaching the younger Kinders. My philosophy of teaching very much includes hands on learning. My TK students would benefit greatly from a greater choice of manipulatives and a variety of learning and teaching tools.
My students need puzzles, legos, blocks, magnetic wands, ethnic dolls, cars, a painting easel, and letter, number, and rhyming games that they can use independently. Having these resources would be an immense contribution to our classroom, serving to foster an engaging, self directed, learning environment for a classroom of eager to learn young students.
