My students are dual language 4th graders. They get instruction in their native language of Spanish as well as in English in FT. Worth, TX. 85% of the students are in reduced or free lunch. 100% of my classroom qualifies for free lunch. They are eager to learn and discover new ideas. But being a dual language classroom they do not have a lot of resources in Spanish (the language science is taught in). Having a iPad would give my students the resources in apps to learn science in their native language as well as through technology. They love investigating and trying to find out new answer. I teach my students to question everything and conduct a experiment to figure out the question. They love hands-on experiences. The iPad and microscope would provide that.
