I am the librarian at a wonderfully diverse elementary school. My vision is to make the library the heart of the school. We have Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Our schoolwide program is Problem Based Learning.
The school's student population is to 450 students from many different backgrounds, and has a large population of second language learners. While we have a diverse socio-economic population, many of our students receive free and reduced lunch. One of our goals is to have all of our children read every night. We work with the students to build the foundational skills of reading and to promote their sense of curiosity through questioning strategies. We strive to support and develop our students' academic strategies through engaging them in the learning process.
