My students struggle with understanding and speaking the second language. Being a second language learner myself, I know first hand how nerve wracking it is to try to overcome learning a new language and having the confidence to speak to native
peers.
I'm requesting 4 tablets so that I can set up a reading/listening station. At this station, students will be able to read/listen to stories or practice answering to comprehension questions to boost their reading, listening and speaking confidence. The addition of technology would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening and speaking. Students who are confident in their abilities to read and comprehend, will be ready to face the challenges of higher education and the workplace.
Giving to low-income students access to technology is an investment in their future.
