I have 24 bright eyed kindergarteners walking into the classroom everyday ready to learn. Many of my students do not speak English as their first language and many of them have never attended school before and are just being exposed to the letters in the alphabet and different varieties of text. At my school we are a non title 1 school with 65% poverty and 19 different languages.
I will be embarking on my 6th year of teaching and kindergarten has been an amazing adventure. I wouldn't want to teach any other age group. I see in my students eyes everyday that they are eager to learn. They are so excited and invested! Kindergarten is the first exposure these children have to school and I want to create lifelong learners! This is the beginning of their learning journey and I want to start them off on the right foot. The whole wide world is out there within their reach and I want to help instill those dreams.
