Children this young of an age need people in their lives to help foster their love for reading. These big books allow all students to see the illustrations and text of books. The use of big books allows teachers to show how to read from left to right and top to bottom.
Children this young can pick up new vocabulary from some of these great authors and use these new words in everyday conversations. I always believe you can never have too many books in a prek classroom. My students use these books and others to help them learn the alphabet and letters sounds. Some of my children have even began to put letter sounds together and start reading some words.
