I am hoping to purchase a set of ukuleles to make music with third, fourth and fifth graders. In third grade, I would introduce basic strumming and a few simple chords. In fourth and fifth grades, we would continue into more difficult chords and playing melodies/songs.
Playing ukulele will give my kids a chance to experience a variety of music by being an active participant. They will be able to enjoy strumming along to the music of today, but also a variety of folk songs and songs from other cultures.
