I get the chance to teach and learn every day with a wonderful group of students. They come from predominantly low income families - homes where parents are working two or more jobs, single parent households, families that change schools multiple times throughout the school year. Even with these challenges, my students come to school every day with smiles on their faces, ready to learn, ready to read. They enjoy reading time because they get to be someone else for a while. They get to explore in the Amazon, be a pirate on a treasure hunt, be a princess in a fairy tale, save the day from a villain attack, learn about the past, or hunt for the answer to a question. Dr. Seuss wrote, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
