I teach choir in a small town in Tennessee. Our high school has a number of talented students. They enjoy sharing their gift with others. The students are gifted not only in choir, but in theater as well. Part of my job is coaching the vocal soloist for the two musicals we put on every year.
My students live in a very high poverty area. My students' parents are wonderful, but there is no way they can help the choir program with the equipment we need. The last thing I want my students to worry about when they come to school is the needs list of the choir. They have enough worries about money in their daily lives without adding the choir's needs.
