I teach in a poor rural district. My students are about 60% Hispanic and many are new to this country. Many students live with grandparents or other family members. Because most students do not have quality academic language skills, it is necessary for them to learn with more hands on activities. I can reach my students better with labs that demonstrate concepts. They love to discover things on their own.
