I teach 4th and 5th grade students with learning disabilities. Our school is a Title 1 school with over 70% of the students receiving free or reduced lunches. This is my first year to teach math and I have no resources other than text books that are not Common Core. Because of budget cuts, our school district wants us to be creative in how we teach these standards. Because of their disabilities my students need the hands on construction they get by using manipulatives. They tend to just "shut their eyes" and give up when they don't understand a concept.
