I teach 36 wonderful 4 year old students who live and attend school in a low-income, high need, inner city, California area. I have a morning and afternoon session with 18 students enrolled in each class. The ethnic make-up is 31 Hispanics and 5 African-American students. There are 26 English Learners and 9 English Speakers. My pre-k students are adorable. They love to run up to the school gate excited about coming to class. They are curious and inquisitive 4 year olds who love to learn. They talk, question, explore, play, sing, taste, collect, socialize and experiment naturally. My students are aware of the upcoming fall season. They know leaves fall from tress more in the fall and some change colors in certain areas. I have told my students we will do many science activities this fall. They are excited about being "little scientists"!
