Young learners need hands-on materials to help them visualize concepts, work through problems, and explore new ideas. I am so proud of their efforts during these first weeks of distance learning! The odds are not stacked in their favor. With engaging materials in their hands, students can focus on their learning in ways that are similar to what we would be doing together if we were in school.
I want to surprise each of my students with a learning care package with high quality literature, math resources, and school supplies.
My students bring home leveled readers each week to ensure they have home access to books on their individual reading level. They have now gone many weeks without new books to explore. I am asking for beginning literature to ensure all students have appropriate books to support their growth as readers. The math visual boards would reinforce problem solving strategies students are familiar with from our classroom. The sight word activity book would help students pick up where we left off. Having these resources at home during this challenging time will bring some comfort, normalcy, and EXCITEMENT to my students at home.
