Students will be able to experiment and visually see algebraic models, such as linear and exponential functions. Making the math visible and hands-on helps students to engage and relate mathematical skills to real-world applications, making the lesson memorable.
Students will experiment with the material using linear and exponential models. Students will measure the displacement of water to determine the volume of flat glass marbles using a linear model to represent the situation. In addition, the resources will later be used to visually represent examples involving bacteria growth that will be modeled using exponential functions.
