On paper, our school is one of the most challenging Elementary Schools within our large district. Our Title-1 community has a mobility rate of 33% and 90% of our student body receives free/reduced lunch. Amidst these statistics, our second graders are full of laughter, joy, and perseverance. Our school community focuses on positive based interventions and providing students the opportunity for an excellent education. My students love Friday Lunch Fun, where they are able to come in during recess to join their grade level teachers and students for Legos, Art Club, Reading, and Games, an earned privilege for bringing back their homework daily. Outside of school, my students love Minecraft, movies, sports (GO SEAHAWKS!), and spending time with their families. Although their days may be challenging, my students value their education and find refuge in our classroom.
