89% of my students families live off welfare and are on free and reduce lunch. Sports are not a high priority in the community and families need to take their kids 45 minutes away to participate in youth sports. Being in a Title 1, Race to the Top, school we don't have a lot of money for PE resources unlike language arts and math. Providing these students with sports equipment will help spark an interest in sports.
