My band students are FABULOUS! They are kind-hearted, loving, respectful children who deserve the very best that we have to offer! Unfortunately, we are a Title I school and many of our students cannot afford the cost of renting an instrument. We do have quite a few school owned instruments, but they are in rough shape as they are 10-20 years old. When students are allowed to use a school owned instrument, we ask that they provide a mouthpiece for it that they can take with them throughout their band-playing life. Many of our students do not have the financial resources to purchase a mouthpiece and in the end will miss out on the great experience of learning to read music, play in a band, and everything that band has to offer in general.
