Students in a special day class have many difficulties staying focused in the classroom. They are constantly being challenged with different stimuli, and need constant reminders to stay focused. In the classroom I try to have as little distractions as possible.
Adjusting their seating will help them greatly with their academics, and staying focused in the classroom learning.
I have purchased one of the bouncy bands and there is a constant battle on who will get to sit on the "bouncy chair" as the students refer to it. When a student does get to use the chair they seem more engaged, less distracted, and finish their tasks.
In our classroom whenever the students get up or move their chairs they make loud noises. Many of my students are to young to pick up the heavy chairs in order to not make noise. The soft balls on the foot of the chairs would minimize the loud noises in the classroom.
