Our school is academically successful and has not been labeled as a "failing" school. We are located in an inner city in New Jersey. Our students come from all over the city and not just from the surrounding area of the school. Therefore, our parents and families, make sacrifices in traveling across town to provide their child(ren) with the best education possible. Often students have transferred into our school from within a failing district school to improve their education. These students struggle with academic difficulties, and some compounded with a medical diagnosis that impact their learning. Two medical diagnosis which are commonly seen are childhood anxiety and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. A student that is diagnosed with one or both of these disorders struggles within the school setting academically and behaviorally. Parental interventions are often requested to collaboratively work with school personnel to rectify and promote academic success.
