The garden has grown! Last year, we started a container garden outside of our classroom. Many of the staff and students were impressed with the plants and vegetables we grew. We ran out of space before we ran out of plants. We live in an area that receives so much rain that it is difficult to grow plants without coverage. We came up with the plan to ask for a greenhouse. The supplies will help students allow students to grow plants and vegetables in a greenhouse. Last year, we grew vegetable outside of our classroom and it was a huge success. There was enough support that we were able to secure funding for a greenhouse. While we were able to grow some plants in our container garden, we now have a larger work space.
The supplies requested are for various methods for growing plants and vegetables. The supplies will allow us to grow plants in a variety in containers, baskets, on a trellis, and also using hydroponics. In order to be resourceful, there are supplies for composting.
Every class will be able to plan, develop, and grow a garden for their class. The supplies are essential for each student to control their own learning through the plan they create for their plants.
