iPads will allow my students to continue their education during Remote Learning as well as in-person learning throughout the COVID 19 school year. With this device, my students will have access to a variety of applications and resources that will help to improve their skills and social emotional learning experience.
This iPad will be used as tools to assist Web based interaction in many diverse ways that can help my students to really visualize the world around them and work toward closing the educational gaps for students with disabilities.
With this iPad, students are able to directly touch the screen and interact with text and pictures. For students lacking motor skills, touch screens are more intuitive devices. There are also wonderful speech programs available for iPads, which will allow expressive language practice for students who are non-verbal or have limited expressive language. For non-verbal students, the iPad can be their voice. I can use the iPad to say what they want to communicate, giving them the opportunity to share information with their friends and teachers.
Funding this grant will allow my students all of the benefits of the iPad technology including academic, fine motor and speech capabilities and assist in closing the education equity gap for students with disabilities.
