The materials requested in this project will allow my students to have access to an independent listening station and allow them the opportunity to record and share their reading with others. During this independent station, students can use the iPads to scan a QR code which takes them to a story that is being read aloud. This will allow students to hear what fluent reading sounds like, learn to read with expression, learn new vocabulary, and allow for differentiation within independent work times. These iPads can also be used by the students to record themselves reading stories and play them back to check on their own fluency and expression! Students will be able to do this using the SeeSaw app that they can then share with their parents.
By donating to our project you will not only help create independent listening stations, but also help students become better readers. Sometimes, students need to have many experiences with books in order to foster a love of reading. What better way to get books into their hands than by using technology? Working at an independent listening station will help my struggling readers become better readers!
