We work in a rural/high poverty school that has many challenges, both inside and outside the classroom. Many of out students struggle to meet reading and math benchmarks. Over half of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Additionally, our students do not have exposure to the many resources that students in cities do. There are no opportunities to hop on public transportation to go shopping, to see a show, or to visit a museum. However, with all this being said, much of the student population has a strong interest in art and music.
