Support Mrs. Crain's classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
Imagine walking into a third grade classroom and noticing that some students are not sitting in traditional seats. Some are wobbling and some are bouncing at their desks, but they are all activity involved with their studies. This is what I want for my students. Currently my students walk into their reading class greeted by old tables and chairs. Everyday they sit in the same desk, in the same group, working with the same peers. While they enjoy working in groups, I'd like to give my students the opportunity to improve their learning by allowing them to choose their seating options.
I have found that my students are more engaged in their work when they feel comfortable and they are allowed to move around. I would like to provide my students with something called "flexible seating". I would like to give them the opportunity to use bouncy bands at their desk so they can fidget if needed. I would also like for students to be able to sit on wobble chairs and bouncy balls so they can move around without distracting others during my 90 minute reading lessons.
By having flexible seating, my students will be able to sit in a place that benefits them the most. Students will be able to take turns sitting in their favorite seating area. My hope is that their movement will allow for more engagement in my lessons.
