I work with students with intellectual disabilities in 3 different high schools in a large district in Oregon. 2 out of the 3 schools are very high poverty and our resources are limited. My particular job is working with these students, helping them to learn and understand what it means to work, have a job, and keep a job. I am continually reinforcing what it means to be a productive worker. My students would learn so much more effectively if I could back up the verbal instructions and feedback with visual examples. My wish is to have a tablet where it's portable and I could videotape them working. This way, I could sit with them and step-by-step, show them the productive times of working plus the times where they could be more productive. My hope is that all my students will be employable and successful in their future jobs, and that they've learned the tools to find and keep a job.
