The 35 second grade students I have the privilege of spending my days with are energetic, positive, smart, funny, creative and have potential beyond my imagination. These children, make me laugh, make me think, make me want to do better and sometimes make my heart ache. Over half of my students live in poverty with parents that are struggling to provide basic needs. Many of their families ask for assistance with clothes, food and school supplies. Books are not always a normal part of their households. No matter their socioeconomic status, all of these students have dreams and aspirations--I want to help make their dreams come true and fulfill their aspirations.
