My students need flexible seating! Sitting in hard plastic chairs isn't comfortable and makes it even harder to focus. If students are allowed to choose their seat, focusing on learning is easier!
Research has shown that movement improves learning.Whether the movement is through brain breaks or small movements while seated, movement is beneficial to learning. I already have rocker seats in my room, and the kids love them! They sit more attentively during our listening station. Their scores while at listening station have improved from 60% scores to 80% or 100% scores.
Having seen the benefits that came from one small change in seating, I'm excited to get more options for my classroom. However, I cannot fund these options on my own and they are not in our school's budget.
