This year I will be focusing on utilizing a flexible seating classroom set-up. This is a break from traditional classroom seating because there will be several seating choices for students that may vary throught the school day. I will be providing students with the opportunity to choose a spot in the room where they will learn best. I will do this by providing different seating options such as wobble chairs, cushions, balance balls, scoop rockers, tall tables and traditional seating. This varied seating arrangement will provide students with the chance to move.
Research has shown that movement in the classroom promotes on task behavior. Students who are on task show more academic growth, thus setting them up for academic success!
