Our school is an urban school in Michigan. Our at risk population is such a large percentage of our school, that the school qualifies for a grant that provides all students with free breakfast and lunch. Many students live in households whose primary language is not English. Students are trying to learn to read in a language that is not the language at home. These students face educational barriers due to their home life and reduced school funding. I have purchased ninety percent of the books in our classroom for student use, but am in need of more books at lower levels for students who are below grade level in reading.
